Ruidoso Travel Guide
Welcome to Ruidoso!
Neighboring the Rocky Mountains in Southeast New Mexico, Ruidoso has two distinct appearances depending on the time of year. In the summer, the Lincoln National Forest welcomes hikers, bikers, campers and birders. Golfers enjoy visiting one of the city's fine golf courses, including the Links at Sierra Blanca, which features 18 holes of championship fairways. Summer is also an ideal time to visit Fort Stanton, which was established in 1855 and features a number of historic buildings. When winter rolls around, the spotlight turns to the Ski Apache Resort where 55 runs weave through the Rocky Mountains. Sleigh rides are available through local parks and a favorite local activity is snow-tubing at one of the area hills. No matter what time of year it is, Ruidoso is also a popular gambling spot. Visitors enjoy making wagers at Billy the Kid Casino and the nearby Ruidoso Downs Race Track, where horse racing and casino action entertain gamblers.
